Live-In Firefighters

The Castella Fire Protection District in partnership with the Dunsmuir Fire Department has a "live in" firefighter program for students enrolled in the College of the Siskiyous fire academy. In exchange for rent free living at Castella fire station these firefighters respond to all types of emergency incidents throughout Castella and Dunsmuir when they are not in class. This program is mutually beneficial as it provides real life on the job experience for firefighters starting their careers in the fire service, and increases staffing levels for response to Fires, Traffic Accidents, Rescues, Medical Aids, and many other types of calls throughout the Castella-Dunsmuir Fire response area.
